Elaine Hunt, 2nd Past President of IWCS
Updated October 30, 2020
I was born in South Carolina, but was moved to Florida by the time I was 4 years old, so I consider myself a Floridian.
I graduated from Dixie M. Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1964. Dixie was an academic and vocational high school where I studied Advertising Arts and Mechanical Drafting along with my regular high school courses. After working and attending advanced drafting classes and art classes at the Pinellas County Vo-Tec I decided to join the US Air Force. It was there that I got my medical training and became a Medic.
In February 2000, my husband Manley, was hired to do the sawing at the IWCS Southeast Regional Winter Woodfest at Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center near Eustis, Florida. In October 2000 we became members. Since that time I have done the program for the meeting 8 times and the registration 5 times. At the end of the 2019 Lake Yale meeting I retired.
In 2013 I became President Elect of IWCS. When the current president had to resign, because of health reasons in 2014, I became President of IWCS and continued until September 2018. I served a total of 5 years as President.
I have made a lot of friends over the years and I will continue to go to as many meetings as I can.
